I hope you are bringing a multi system TV. The systems in Germany are PAL, the voltage is 220, at 50Hz.

I am an American living in Germany and have experience in this matter. I have found that once you take this TV through customs and pay the tax and customs duty on it you could have bought it for less in Germany.

Unless things have changed the Zoll German customs will reference the item against there data base. If the item is sold in Germany then they take that price, add the 20% import duty and another 20% Mwst Tax. So your 1000 euro TV will cost another 400 euro to bring it into Germany.

I bet you rfriend can find the same item for a reasonable price in Germany.
Best of Luck

I checked on the website, and it says its 14%.However, I'm not entirely sure, since I had to answer questions like "relation of width to height less than 1,5" and such (d**n nitpickers...)Furthermore, I don't know whether that is all, so to be sure, you should rather send them an email.Make sure you specify the technical specs, whether its color or not, width and height (of the screen) and so on.

You can check for yourself, the website is in english :

Hope I could help you anyway...

EDIT : Good thought,Torsten, I forgot that.

the fee in India has no relevance for fee of Customs accountability.the fee of procuring for is correct. you're entitled to unfastened allowance of Rs 25000/- on touchdown into India if the television is introduced with you on your accompanied bags. as an occasion; if the television has costed you in US for one thousand US money the activity is as under: the fee around Rs 40000/- unfastened Allowance Rs 25000/-(if U dont produce different products with U) accountability would be levied on Rs 15000/- on the fee of 35 p.c. + cess of three in line with cent in this 35 in line with cent
