I am traveling to Germany. I already bought a train ticket which gets me to all my stops but two. I need to get from Berlin to Potsdam and back, which is about a 36 min distance. The other place I have to get is from Dusseldorf to Dortmund and back, which is a 54 min distance. Does anyone have any idea how to travel? Or some good websites or somthing. Thank you.

We are thinking of hiring a car and wonder if it is safe to drive, from Frankfurt down to Heildelberg then along the Romantic Road to Oberstaufen about 180 klms from Munich. We would also appreciate any information on use of snow tyres and chains if that is necessary at this time.

Just wondering if there is an actual guided tour or tourguide book with the sites where the stories first originated.
(Like the tower where Rapunzel let down her hair.)

I had heard of one so many years ago...and I have asked my travel agent, who didn't know of any...

Thought maybe someone out there may have an idea or link or some good information.

Thanks for your time!

I want to rent a car in Germany, but I am on a tight budget and looking for the most basic economy car. However, it must be an automatic, and, so far, the only automatic cars I can find appear to be moderate to luxury models only and pretty expensive. Is there a reason for this? Do you know of a car rental place in Munich where I can rent an economy vehicle with automatic transmission? Thanks!

I'm going to Germany in the next upcoming months. I'm staying with my German freinds that I'm really close to. I've never traveled outside of Ohio. Even though I have already graduated from college. I was wondering what kind of culture difference is there? What kind of manners are different? edict? Things I need to know about Germany? I've never traveled much so I really don't know much. I've talked with this with my freinds but their details are usually not really descriptive.

I will be there in May. I have the option of going on Friday May 11th or Sunday May 13th.

What day of the week is it least busiest? Are weekends really busy? How long are the line-ups on weekends?

(1) How long does it take?
(2) How much will it cost for gas and car rental?
(3)Would I be better off just to fly? I found a cheap flight for 19 Euro (x2 = 38 Euro), but I thought it would be nice to drive so that I can see the country.
(4)Any suggestions on places I should visit on the way?

If you can include translation to English, that would be great. I am living in Germany for some time, and am trying to teach myself the language.

How come that crossing the Berlin Wall you could reach "freedom"?
I can't understand that fact because the wall was in the middle of Germany RD, not in the border with another country, so, if you could cross it, you're still inside Germany RD. That makes me crazy... it sounds like you escape from a box to get into a jail.
I mean, beyond the wall were more of the same RD, you still had to run at least another 4000 Km to reach "occident" (a gross calculation).

Of course I know the wall is not more there, I'm try to figure what happened on these days.

Thanks!
