Yes, go to http://www.telefonbuch.de (also in English) and then enter your friend's name (first family name and then his surname) and then you probably might find him. But, private/secret numbers are not listed there!

When you only know the first name of that person, then you can search until the year 7499....The family name counts! Otherwise, you can forget it!!! Sorry...

I am sorry, but when those are the only clues you can give, I am affraid it will be impossivel.

When he was your best friend for such a long time you must have more information than only the fist name.

What about schools attended, workplaces, streets, hobbies, etc.

Think about the details, then there is hope.

well, with the few info you have you might be best of using http://www.stayfriends.de you can search for old schoolmates in germany. get yourself a profile, what schools did you attend and where and in what years and you will find all people who went to those schools.

just with the first name it's a bit difficult...do you know which school your friend attended? Maybe try to find the last name with the school and then go to local authorities (Einwohnermeldeamt)
