I asked this in the Japan subsection of the Travel section, but no one there even understood what a cruise was.

I have not yet been to Japan, but I always hear about how expensive it is. Since Japan is a set of islands whose major cities are ports, would a cruise of Japan be a cheaper alternative to land based hotels? (I realize this may sacrifice some of the exposure to Japanese culture.)

I want to book a cruise for my hubby and I sometime in June 2007. How far in advance should I book it? Is it best to book on my own or go thru a travel agent? Thanks!

I am going to take a balcony room. Is it really better to be on a high deck? Is it important to avoid being under the dining room or any other area of the ship?

I plan on going on a cruise, one with things for young partying adults (mid 20's) to do. Clubbin to real music, drinking, gambling, fun things young adults do. I am taking my wife. Does anyone have any suggestions for a 7-10 cruise?

I have gone on a few. I have seen Bermuda, St. Thomas, St. Marteen and Bahamas. I was just wondering if others had gone and maybe their favorite beach. Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda is awesome.

I've always wanted to work on board a cruise ship, especially on the Mediterranean but it seems the resources are limited. Does anyone here know of a way to get my foot in?

I am from Scotland and my friend and I want to go to Hawaii next year. We have to decide if this is the right cruise for us. Has anyone been on this ship and could give us an idea if it is worth the money. We want to have some genuine opinions as I have to book over the phone and hate dealing with these situations without realistic info which I can read or hear. Many thanks.

I'm not terribly prone to seasickness, but I have been known to get pretty green in a smaller boat on choppy waters. I'm told the big cruise ships with stablizers don't even feel like they're moving, so I'm not too worried about that part; but I hope to go on side trips to see whales and sea otters. Has anyone done this, and do folks tend to get seasick on them?

I know the average temperature, the temperature range, etc for the month. And I know to dress in layers. But I wonder if anyone who's actually been on a cruise during the first half of September can give me some practical suggestions on just how cold, windy, wet etc. I can expect the weather to be.
