I know the average temperature, the temperature range, etc for the month. And I know to dress in layers. But I wonder if anyone who's actually been on a cruise during the first half of September can give me some practical suggestions on just how cold, windy, wet etc. I can expect the weather to be.

I went on a cruise in mid September a few years ago. When you are just walking around the ports, it isn't that cold. I'd definitely recommend bringing a light jacket with a hood, because there was a misty rain pretty often. However, when you are standing out on the ship's deck when you get near the glacier, it is very cold. We were freezing out there while we were watching the glacier break and trying to get pictures of it. I would recommend a heavier coat, gloves, and earmuffs for that, because my ears and hands froze. They have hot cocoa that they bring around when they see everyone on the ship start to freeze, so that helps a lot.

The weather can be VERY windy, which makes the weather seem much colder. They slow down and even stop at the glaciers so you can hear the glaciers break and fall. It is just amazing and BEAUTIFUL. It's weird though bec. when it breaks and hits the water it sounds like a gun shot.

Anyways, take a heavy coat, gloves, ear warmers, and scarfs. Believe me they will come in handy!!

The Southern part of Alaska is quite warm due the the currents from Japan. If you have a nylon shell jacket it will keep the wind and cold off while being light weight.

I went years ago in September because it is the off season. There was light wind and a little rain but overall it was great.

I went during the 1st week of June and that i assumed it became into rather superb climate. It rained lots with the aid of Juneau, yet different than that, it became into stable. in certainty, it have been given as much as seventy 5 stages between the days. yet as a results of fact the interior Passage is on the coast, it relatively is no longer common to foretell climate so i'd carry heat climate outfits as properly as cool climate outfits. as quickly as I went to Skagway, it became into pouring rain and 40 5 stages, yet with the aid of the tip of the day, it became into sunny without a cloud in the sky and unquestionably heat.
