I've been comparing wages, real estate prices, gas, etc., and the cost of living is staggering. The jobs in Toronto are comparable in pay to where I live, but the cost of everything else is tremendous. Surely not everyone in Toronto is making $100k or more? How does a single person on a modest salary (about $50k) afford housing, taxes, transportation, etc. in Toronto? It seems like most properties are $250k and up in decent neighborhoods. I'd really rather not rent.

We live near Toronto and don't wish to travel more than 6 hours away driving. We don't have a lot of money. Probably going in September or October. We enjoy hotels, shopping, cabins, retreats etc. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I am supposed to visit Toronto, ON in two days for a long weekend. A couple friends backed out last night, and now we can't afford the hotel we were going to stay in. I guess I'm just wondering if any of you live in Toronto, if you know... is there a Budget Inn or a Motel 8 or some other kind of cheapie place to stay right downtown? I would like to be near the entertainment district, or Kensington Market. Also do I have to book in advance, or are there usually hotels with vacancies? Any help would be seriously appreciated! Thanks!

I think Canada is a breakaway republic. We should get them back to access their oil.

Is it worth attending for a bunch of girls from the states? What kinds of things are there to do there? If we go, should we plan on spending an entire day there? We are planning on being in the Toronto area for five days and also are visiting Casa Loma, the Toronto Zoo, and the Ontario Science Centre, and don't want to be rushed when we go to visit attractions.

I'm also interested in the area around 32 Howard Street, a hotel I'm planning to stay in. What's it like? Both places are in downtown Toronto.

I do have family there in two provinces, but I'm over 18. I wanted to try and find a job there, but despite what people say, I have little luck. I want to move to (Toronto) Ontario or Alberta, most likely.

I have an aunt who lives in Canad whom I would like to visit. However, last year when I went on tan airplane to Toronto, I became very afraid, and could not rest easily, so much that I can never go on another aiplane again. So I was wondering If anyone knew of any boat/ferry services operating from the UK to Canada.
Thanks!

I want to go somewhere outside of Toronto with 3 kids ages 13,10 and 7 but one of my kids has a broken arm, so because of the cast issue no water sports/events please. Niagara has been over done for us. Something original would be great!
