If you like culture (restaurants, shops, cafes, people) try these downtown neighbourhoods:
- Little Italy (College Street between Bathurst & Ossington)
- West Queen West (Queen Street, near Trinity Bellwoods park)
- Roncesvalles Village (Roncesvalles, south of Dundas West and north of Queen)
- Bloor West Village (Bloor Street West, between Jane Street and Runnymede)
- The Beach (aka The Beaches -- Queen Street East, east of Woodbine)
- The Danforth (aka Greektown -- Danforth Ave, between Pape and the Don River)
- The Annex (Bloor Street West, between Spadina and Bathurst)

I grew up in the Little Italy area. I used to live on St. Clair Ave. and Caledonia Road. This area is quiet, safe and clean. At least when I was kid (not too long ago), there wasn't any crime, no drugs or any of that stuff. SO I would suggest this area. However, when it's time for the World Cup, all of the Italian invade the streets and make such a big fuss over every game. Other than that, it's a wonderful area. You should check it out.

Toronto is a great city. Generally safe and clean.

I would look at getting a place close to where you are going to work or school since traffic can sometimes be a bit of a pain.

Midtown is nice around Yonge and Davisville or Yonge and Eglington. The Beach, is a cool neighborhood but rents/property can be pricey. Scarborough has a bit of a bad reputation, as does Jane and Finch.

If I had to move to Toronto, I would want to live in Rosedale. However, Toronto is a very Boring City and the following Cities are all more interesting: Victoria
Vancouver
Calgary
Montreal
Quebec City
Charlottetown
Halfax

I live in Toronto. Don't go anywear near Jane and Finch or any part of Jane street. What is your ethnic background if you have one. Toronto has a spot for everyone. Very friendly and so much to see and do. I hope you find what your looking for and enjoy your stay.

Toronto is one of the nicest cities I've ever visited.
Hustle & bustle with some manners;
Clean for a large city;
Great access via public transit;
Very multicultural and friendly; and
Comparatively low crime rate.

Enjoy!
