Most food yes, except for some types of fresh fruit and vegetables and meat I believe.
And if you are flying, no liquids or gels.

You can take most types of food across the border into Canada. There are some restrictions, mostly because they don't want to have any insect infestations. It's hard to say because the restrictions on the U.S. and Canadian side change almost every week. Best bet is to call Canadian Customs and ask what's currently on the restricted list.

I flew into Toronto last fall, carrying a ham sandwich which I thought I would eat on the plane but didn't. The customs gave me a real hard time about that. I kept telling them..just throw the dang thing away then! They are very careful about what food goes through there. Can't blame them though. But it was a funny story for my Canadian friends. From now on I will only take pre-packaged meals.

All food must be packed in your personal luggage and must be declared before you enter Canada.
Go to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency site:
.inspection.gc.ca Ask, "What can I bring into Canada?" This site will list the foods that you may bring and in what quantities. With plants, there must be no pests, soil or roots.

Yes. But any food you can get here you can get there. And you've gotta try poutine!! (And not that fake stuff they sell at Burger King). French fries, gravy (more technically, poutine sauce) and cheddar cheese curds sounds like an unappetizing combination, but, that's what I used to think. (That doesn't change the fact that it's basically a heart attack waiting to happen)
