I plan on visiting Toronto for a weekend but I don't have a clue as to what to do, what to see, or even where to stay. Of course I can search the internet but I'd like insight from people who live there or have visited.

I've already looked into a few hotels but can you tell me where I should/should not stay (meaning safety of neighborhoods).

I've found a few places listed for this such as the 'Epic Room' at the Fairmont Royal York, Old Mill Tea Room at the Old Mill Inn, Winsor Arms Hotel (Thomas Street), Grenadier Cafe-Parkside Dr.), The Village Tea Room (Scarborough) and Red Tea Box (Queen St. West), and have checked everything, but can't find many reviews for them...has anyone been to these and what is your opinion of them? (Heard everything great re Fairmont and mixed reviews re Red Tea Box). Taking a few 'older' classy ladies and want them to enjoy their afternoon tea! Thanks!

I live just across the border from Ontario,Canada in Cheektowaga (Buffalo), New York. One of our malls is called the Walden Galleria and about 70% of all the license plates in the parking lot are from Ontario!

I was speaking to a Canadian couple the other day and they said they come down every 2 months for all the deals at the American department stores like Target and JCpenny. It's funny because I go to Yorkdale in Toronto all the time and I love there shops! The Bay and Zellers are great!!

I was wondering why a lot of people seem to like shopping at stores they don't have around them. Is it because it's different, or a change from the norm, or just because the deals really are better? I know not every one does this, but avid shoppers seem to enjoy this (including me lol!)

I´m so nervous and unclear about what to do...I still have a job, and I ´ve heard so great stories, bad stories, great sites about migration there, bad sites....The personal score for direct reference is 3-1 in favor to go. The point is, any geniune suggestions to calm myself down welcome.
