I've found a few places listed for this such as the 'Epic Room' at the Fairmont Royal York, Old Mill Tea Room at the Old Mill Inn, Winsor Arms Hotel (Thomas Street), Grenadier Cafe-Parkside Dr.), The Village Tea Room (Scarborough) and Red Tea Box (Queen St. West), and have checked everything, but can't find many reviews for them...has anyone been to these and what is your opinion of them? (Heard everything great re Fairmont and mixed reviews re Red Tea Box). Taking a few 'older' classy ladies and want them to enjoy their afternoon tea! Thanks!

Hi!
I love High Tea! I have been to the Epic Room and The Fairmont Royal York, and I must say I enjoyed it more when they use to serve it in the Grand Ball Room. The service, food and tea are very good, but the atmosphere is a little lacking for me. The Winsor Arms is suppose to have the BEST Tea Room in Toronto, my sister use to be a manager at this hotel and she likes this venue the best!

Don't forget the Four Seasons hotel, they also have a tea in the lobby and it is nice there.

As well, I regularly frequent the Village Tea Room in Scarborough. It is a small quaint little place in a strip mall run by a mother and daughter from England. It's not as formal as The Royal York, but they have a lovely eclectic array of Tea Cups to choose from and it is very pretty inside despite the outside of the building. They have THE best blueberry scones I have ever had! It is a small intimate venue that is sure to please. You might want to call and check out the hours they are open, because they close fairly early.

Never had tea at these places, but just from eating there I would defnitely skip Grenadier Cafe (it's basically a cafeteria inside a park) and focus on:
- Royal York (top-class hotel, right downtown)
- Old Mill (nice, older, rustic-feeling place about 15 min. from downtown by car or subway)
- Windsor Arms Hotel (never been there, but it's got a great reputation)

Fairmont Royal York is an old time classic......can't go wrong with that.

I have heard many "great" things about the Windsor Arms. They supposedly put on quite the spread.

Hope you and the classy dames enjoy yourselves.

Um, you could always have your own ~ tea and cucumber sandwiches with biscuits. I guess maybe it's only done in houses with strong British ties nowadays...
