If the civic holiday is on the 1st of August (wednesday) then why wasn't that the stat? A friend said Monday was the stat to make it a long weekend, but if that's the reason then why wasn't Friday the stat?
Anyone have a clue?

Im a coffee addict and my favourite brands are Starbucks, Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts. I can usually only get to a Dunkin Donuts across in Buffalo NY . . . or in Quebec.

But how come there are Dunkin Donuts in Quebec and not Southern Ontario (Toronto). We usually get everything first, so I don't see why Dunkin decided Quebec was such a great place to go. They even have four Krispy Kreme's in Montreal! FOUR??! We only have one!!

Have you recently moved to Canada? If so, did the immigration process take longer or shorter than the predicted waiting times from your Embassy?

He's just so pathetic!! He is SO uneducated about Canada. He makes up stats about Canada and tries to pass them off as fact. You have to know something about your opponent before lamely trying to attack them. Even simpletons know this. Any other Canadians sick of hearing this guy spew his hate? I think when he posts questions we should just ignore them. What do you guys think?

I am planning a trip overseas with my son (due to leave within a month!) and was going to apply for a passport for my 11 year old son tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, his birth certificate seems to have disappeared!
What I do have is a certified copy by the Office of the Registrar-General of Ontario of the Statement of Live Birth with a registration number, date issued. It shows details of the birth (name, weight etc.) as well as information about the doctor & both parents.
Now, I understand that a long form birth certificate may be required in the case of applying for a child's passport. My question is, will this be acceptable? It is a legal document issued by the government with all the necessary particulars! So, is it the same as a long form birth certificate and do you think it will be accepted as proof of Canadian citizenship at the passport office? Please help & offer any answer that you can! Thanks in advance.

If 40,000 Canadians were in Lebanon, many of them tourists, it just makes me wonder how many other people go back to their "homeland" to vacation. We have such wonderful thigs to see and do in Canada. Our natural beauties and our cultural events are delightful. Too bad we can't attract more Canadians to our recreational and cultural events.
