If the civic holiday is on the 1st of August (wednesday) then why wasn't that the stat? A friend said Monday was the stat to make it a long weekend, but if that's the reason then why wasn't Friday the stat?
Anyone have a clue?

The civic holiday is on the first Monday of August not August 1st and it wasn't a stat holiday- so if you didn't work you didn't get paid and if you did work you only got your regular wages- not time and a half.

The civic holiday is not the 1st of August, but the first Monday of August, to give everyone a three-day weekend. The first Monday in August fell on the 7th, and that's why it was a holiday.
