i've been there...nothing much is there

it's growing but still... it's a bit too far from the big city for me and too rural

i'm originally from vancouver but currently living in florida

Yes.
It's a nice, small city, out far enough to be close to rural areas, and it's right on the US Border, yet only an hour from Vancouver.
It wouldn't be my choice to live ... I would prefer Hope or something else real small ....

LOL ... I live in Vancouver, but I do love it here.
