Canada is one of the places that I'm thinking to move to. I heard that BC is awesome. But, I also heard that it is quite expensive so I wouldn't be able to move there (I do not have much money)...I am also looking for a place with friendly people, and a place that does not get bitterly cold...

The climate in BC...Vancouver is awesome, but the down side is, being a tourist destination, it's expensive to live there. Ontario, by the way does not pay the best wages, is cold in the winter because of the Great Lakes, they say it only gets to -10 or so...but it's a very wet cold, so it feels allot colder. I've lived in every province of Canada (touring etc.), except for Quebec(which really isn't part of Canada) and the East Coast, and found that Southern Alberta is pretty much the best for climate (they get Chinooks in the winter), good paying jobs, is not all that expensive to live there, and the people are very friendly. The cheapest part of Canada to live in is either the East Coast (high unemployment) or the prairies...Saskatchewan and Manitoba...but the weather can get pretty nasty in the winter...say -40 ...dry cold that doesn't cut into the bone like a wet cold (-40 equals about -20 in Ontario or BC (oh...BC never gets that cold, around -5 is pretty much average).

Newfoundland ,Canada is awesome! I wouldn't know if the prices here a different, but us Newfoundlanders are some of the most polite people in Canada! If you came here, you would get a taste of our history and and present, the fishing industry! Newfoundland was once just a place to come fish, but now we have built a strong and healthy place! And if you live on the coast, near the water, the sea winds keep the temperature from going too high in the summer, and not too cold in the winter. We dont have that many big shopping centers, but if you need something, you could probably find it in the general store down the road, or your neighbours garage! Ive lived in Newfoundland since I was born, and I'm 12 now, but even when I go on holidays, I cannot find a place in the World that I like better than good ole Newfoundland!

The mildest climate in Canada is on Vancouver Island. Victoria is the largest city there and it is the warmest. The Parksville, Qualicum Beach area is located midway up the island and is a very charming area. The cheapest area of Vancouver Island would be at the northern edge in towns like Port Hardy and Port McNeill but these areas do get a more severe winter. Canada is still more affordable to live in then the U.S. and you can find rentals relatively inexpensive. Jobs are another issue though. About the only industry on the island are tourist related, service related or logging related. But the island is one of the most delightful places in the world and if you did some research I am sure you could find something that would fit your needs. Good Luck!

BC has the best weather in Canada, without a doubt. It also has some very expensive real estate -- BUT -- you don't have to live in the high priced areas. Vancouver, Whistler, Kelowna are all pretty pricey, but there are any number of smaller towns in the Lower Mainland area, where the cost of living isn't that high. You'll find most Canadians friendly, and especially so in small towns, where there is lots of opportunity to get to know people.
Why not come and visit, and do a little on-site exploration?

The east coast is beautiful, but a very damp-cold in the winter. The mildest weather is probably b.c. You don't have to live in expensive Vancouver - go inland, maybe the kootenays - very mild winters, still resonable - beautiful lakes and mountains. Forget Alberta, most areas have harsh winters, and realestate / rentals have doubled, even tripled in the last 2-3 years. Sask. - well what can we say about sask? I'd go for interior b.c.

ontario seems like it could probably work for you. or the east coast.... halifax, the valley, maybe pei, its pretty over on this side of the country and the people are very nice. halifax is a beautiful city reminds me of boston.. mind you it isnt as big as boston, not by far, it just has that old city feel.. hahah there is lots of restaurants, like tonnes and the nightlife is realllllllly good in halifax :)
it does get cold. although last winter wasnt overly cold much better than before. i think we can thank global warming or watever for that .... cause i sure dont like the cold either..

well most of canada gets cold- bc gets a lot of rain--- ontario is a great place to live and not overly expensive-- its all relative-- we make good money so we can afford to spend a little bit more on rent etc

Vancouver, BC has a similar climate to Seattle if you could stand that.
