Going to the South Island in September for 7-10 days with some family. We will probably hire a campervan.

What are some must see things to put on our itinerary?
Also is there whale watching available in September? If so where?

Sorry this question isn't exactly to the point, didn't know how to put it. I wanna go to Australia- am getting a 12 month working holiday visa but was wondering what to do about flight tickets. Do I have to have a specific return date? I thought there was something called an open ticket but searching on google doesn't show anything. Has anyone here used something like this? What was it called? Where did you get it from? Does this make any sense lol

I have 8 days at spare and a mid sized sedan and i have to see Great Ocean Drive and Alice Springs. Can someone please plan me a trip..!!! The journey is more important than the destination since this is going to be my first and last road trip in this country. I do plan to see things on the way. So can someone please guide me taking into considerations all the above mentioned limitations.

I am going on a journey of a lifetime. And some of this trip will be New Zealand and the other bit will be in Australia.

I know where to go in Australia but I want to hear from people who have been to New Zealand.

Which is the best North Island or South Island?

Advice appreciated. Thanks
