HI I have lived in Melbourne for 2 years. The weather in Melbourne can be unpredictable. It can be wet and cold one day but sunny the next day. The cost of living is much cheaper than Sydney (where I live now). Transport is the very convenience. The trams go almost anywhere in Melbourne near the city centre. The transport system is divided by zones. With one ticket you can travel anywhere within the same zone. Which is much cheaper than paying for point A to point B, like in Sydney.

Food is great. There are many choices in Melbourne. Especially in Swanston St and near Chinatown. Lots of Asian food there. Not sure about Indian food but I am sure you will find one. Another good place to eat is Lygon Street in Carlton. Many Italian and Greek restaurants. Otherwise St Kilda is also a good place to go for food and shopping !

One thing I like about Melbourne is the people. Most people are so friendly which is the opposite to Sydney. If I wasnt working in Sydney I'd have gone back to Melbourne already.

If there's anything else, feel free to ask me

Welcome to Australia

For weather and climate, look at the Bureau of Meteorology web page at http://www.bom.gov.au

For all the other questions, read The Age, melbourne's top newspaper online at http://www.theage.com.au

BTW it is called "transport" in Australia. "Transportation" was what many of our early settlers were sentenced to by British courts.
