My cousins - so cute and adorable just like me.

Unfortunately alot get run over every night which is sad.

Also in all supermarkets they sell 'roo steaks' and 'roo snags'.

It depends where they are. In many areas they have bred to the point they are a pest but in other areas they are a threatened species.
It also depends on what sepcies of kangaroo we're talking. The Common Grey Kangaroos are everywhere but many species of wallaby (not a kangaroo but look like a small kangaroo) like the Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby are seriously threatened due to habitat destruction among other reasons.

No matter what we think of them, we need to appreciate there is a balance that needs to be up held so we don't lose some beautiful animals.

Australians tend not to hate anyone or anything. We dislike things but leave hatred to fundamentalist religious nutters who seem to thrive on it.

Kangaroos are in plague proportions in some areas but scarce in others. Around where I live we have three species of wallaby and eastern grey kangaroos that seem to get on with most people. The biggest losses are to cars and trucks at night.

Kangaroo is popular as food and goes brilliantly with fresh beetroot. There are silly people who complain that we eat our coat of arms but that is only because the animals on our coat of arms are edible. I can't see too many people eating lions, unicorns or bald eagles.

They are one of Australias native animals and they are mainly found in the outback. You can aslo eat kangaroo. They can also be pretty dangerous.

I love em - I think they are cute especially when they start to scratch themselves.
I have them in my back yard every day - as the rainforest is at my back door - I get close to them.
Gee whiz they only eat grass oh and wild passionfruit I have noticed - they eat the ones off my tree in the back yard - I was quiet surprise when I first saw that.
and yes I have tasted kangaroo too - many years ago living in the outback - very strong taste - nothing wrong with them as long as they stay off the roads at night - too many road kills just like the cassowaries here I get them too in my back yard.
Wildlife arent they beautiful creatures!

Don't mind them as long as the bastards stay in the bush where they belong! But when the bloody things start roaming around on the roads, particularly at night, then they can be a real pain in the ***! Hit one of the mongrels in your car and, shiiit, what a mess they make of the panel work. That's why most people living in the bush here have bullbars fitted to their vehicles. Helps to keep the bastards off the hood!

They make good, low cholesterol steaks for the barbeque - absolutely beautiful! Mmmmmm, roo steaks - yum.

Mate we feel the same about them as you guys do about deer.

1. They are amazing animals in their own right.

2. They make for great hunting and good eating.

3. They do a HECK of a lot of damage should you happen to drive your car into one at any speed.

4. They are SOOOO cute when they are small.

City people love them. Rural people can be indifferent about them. Especially if they are farmers and the Roos are eating their crops. No Aussie really hates them and always get a thrill to see them especially in flight as they are so graceful.

i like them but as with any animal they have their draw backs in some parts of australia they are pests and interfere with farmers work. alot of aussies eat them which is strange as what other country eats the animal from the coat of arms?! i think they are incredibly amazing in how they reproduce and how a joey when born is about 3-5cm small climbs the outside of its mother to get into the pouch!!! they cant see at this age its all instinct

We love em... Why else would they be on our national emblem! In some parts of Australia they are pests but most Australians would agree with me that there cute and lovable! There are places in Australia that you can go up close to the wild kangaroos and as long as you don't touch them or go near the ones with joey's in there pouches they don't mind a bit! Hope that helps...
