I am US Citizen, living here in California. My boyfriend has a dual citizenship and is moving back to Taiwan, and were trying to figure out how I can move there as well. Please, any helpful advice would be great. I know absolutely nothing about how it all works, and what is required, etc. Thanks in advance!

PS. we would be staying for four years, planned, then go from there. Is there maybe a visa or something...???

: ) sorry im extrememly naive about this stuff, haha.

Who here has seen the recent Taiwan Beer Ad? Do you think this ad makes the once-respected Taiwanese pop singer A-Mei look like a cheap tart? "Come on, come on, and love me tonight."

Taiwan was invade by a chinese dynasty not even before the 17th century. America was long time being occupy and colonize by England. This tiny time represent a fraction of the 4 thousand years old history of China.

Taiwan was populated by Austronesiannative who silently assimilated but didn't disapear completely.Austronesians are the ancestors of phillipinos, malays, polynesians(Hawai, tahiti, marquise, etc..)

This mean that Communist China should let Taiwan alone since they have no ancestral right to get it back. Taiwan should thus stay independant.

I saw the whole family (like 4 or 5 people) riding it, it's dangerous! Is there any law restricting this situation? In case of emergency, how are they supposed to stand the weight of other family members?

This week in accordance with a bill initiated and sonsored by Chen and the DPP - nearly 10,000(!) prisoners (mostly drug addicts, burglars, and those involved in fraud rings) who only served half of their prison sentences have been released.
Why would Chen Shui-bian do such a thing?

I know that China (PRC) claims that Taiwan is theirs. Also, I know that Taiwan likes to call itself "The Republic of China" but China does not want this because of the "One China Policy". In the Olympics, Asian Games, etc. do you notice that Taiwan is designated as "Chinese Taipei"? Why won't China allow the use of "Taiwan"? Is there really a possibility that Taiwan will become independent?

And, allow me to add another question:
Why is Singapore so strict? I mean, I understand that they want to keep their country clean, but why the strict rules, like banning chewing gum?
