Forget "BS"herman's biased rant. I don't blame him for this because I'm betting that he was picked at school in the USA. It happens a lot if you don't try and make friends with people. Most people who where picked on at school grow out of this however a few still harbour negative thoughts.This must be his way of letting it out by bringing other people down. Maybe the person has claimed Taiwanese citizenship. Taiwan unlike China welcomes dual citizenship. Hence the person you are talking about is now legally recognized as a Taiwanese citizen. At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with him proclaiming his happiness to be a Taiwanese citizen. On the flip side of the coin, if you go onto China section, BS says he is from the USA and proclaims that China is is the best place on earth and that the USA is hell. You see that this is a so-called part of the cultural dissociative disorder too, yet he criticises something for doing the same.

Hi Mike L, sorry but that ain't a proverb. That line may have been lifted out from some manga dialog balloon, probably one that was uttered by a chef who has been trying to perfect his barbecue recipe. 大串燒 is barbecue, mind you.

There is no way to translate the sentence literally because the way it had been constructed is a bit awry. If I were to rephrase the sentence, it would go like this:

理想的大串燒 - 很快就要實現了。In Manga-speak, sort of like "Our quest for the ideal barbecue will soon be completed!!" Btw, what made you think that that line is a Chinese proverb? Just asking, if you don't mind. If your friends told you that, then they may be pulling off some kind of prank on you.
