Taiwan was invade by a chinese dynasty not even before the 17th century. America was long time being occupy and colonize by England. This tiny time represent a fraction of the 4 thousand years old history of China.

Taiwan was populated by Austronesiannative who silently assimilated but didn't disapear completely.Austronesians are the ancestors of phillipinos, malays, polynesians(Hawai, tahiti, marquise, etc..)

This mean that Communist China should let Taiwan alone since they have no ancestral right to get it back. Taiwan should thus stay independant.

It is not a question of the people's origins. This is a question of the legal status of the Republic of China. The comparison between the length of CHINA's history (and by not choosing Taiwan's history you have made it obvious) and the time America was colonised by England does nothing for your argument and should have been left out. I fear your debate is similar to the process of urinating in the wind, and since I do not seen any question here - there's nothing else here to say.

There are no international legal documents which can prove that Formosa and the Pescadores (aka "Taiwan") are part of the Republic of China.

Additionally, the procedures for incorporating Taiwan into ROC territory, via Article 4 of the ROC Constitution, have never been completed.

So, while it is true that Taiwan is not a part of the PRC, at the same time it must be recognized that Taiwan is not a part of the ROC either.

It's the ups and downs of History at work here. There is no way anyone can place History against the backlight of Logic. But I do know one thing: did you know that the Universe is so infinitely vast that it is very possible to allot a planet to each human that has ever come into existence?

So what is this fight for trivial land all about?? As if we're running out of it!!

Firstly, there is NO country called China today. That territory is called People's Republic of China. (PRC)

Taiwan Island is a part of Republic of China. (ROC) The PRC has NEVER had any jurisdiction over the ROC and it's territories. There is nothing here for them to claim.

Coordinates-TW:
Interesting.
So therefore Prez Chen is correct in applying to join the UN under Taiwan.

I agree with you. There is no real legal basis for PRC to state it can go into where ever they want and take it as their territory. Unfortunately G.W. has given them the modern precedent with invading Iraq. Sigh. ?Fortunately? for Taiwan, USA has lots of fun new toys they want to test out against China's new toys...

In the end the only ones benefitting from taiwan's legal issues are bored lawyers without a desire to tackle real social problems, hollinger and lockheed-martin. and of course politicians who need to create problems to look like they are doing something 'important' with your votes. (PRC) Chinese people probably dont care... but they'll spit out the crap they got taught automatically since the age of 3, so they arnt pegged by the secret police boogymen there.

People should forget about the control games and just focus on solving their own personal problems like food, jobs, what color of socks to wear, decorate their house, develop a nice frontyard/color scheme for their businesses... maybe then people would stop feeling so darned angry and messing with dangerous toys that kill people. But thats not too likely... sigh. its easier to project your problems onto others than solve them isnt it?
