I'm treated like trash.

Usually not, but sometimes it appears so because of cultural relativity. For example, I was put off at first by people crowding in front of me in public places such as a post office. We're used to nice, neat lines in the States and are discomforted when our orderly lines are violated.

The same is true for getting on a bus. I've been elbowed out of the way by old women. However, they do the same thing to each other; that's just the way people do it, so try not to take it personally. It's actually funny if you can get on the right side of it.

After I'd been in Taiwan for awhile, a Buddhist monk cut in front of me at the train station ticket office, and I laughed.

Like anywhere in this world you will find people of all persuasions. Perhaps you don't speak Taiwanese and that is giving u some problems.

I lived in Taiwan for 5 years. I taught English. I had both good and bad experiences with employers, students and the public in general.

Taiwanese human beings have double standards. they are frequently nicer to foreigners and by using foreigners I mean Caucasians and everyone that appears like that. that does no longer mean that they are ruder to Asians. No, it in basic terms skill they do no longer probably take care to handle Asians nicer than foreigners. approximately honking horns, Taiwan is a small place and its human beings stay a rapid paced, extreme-forced existence. rather some cases it incredibly is approximately attending to places or ending projects as quickly as available. The custom isn't probably approximately rest or playing existence. for this reason, you notice human beings dashing approximately and squeezing onto MRTs or buses. no remember the place you bypass, the custom isn't rather the comparable as the place you got here from. Like what Pagan says, it incredibly is not approximately being extra suitable or worse yet approximately being different. there is extremely no longer something you're able to do approximately it yet adapt to it. in assessment to the place you got here from, Taiwan would seem to be impolite yet perchance the human beings would seem to be nicer in assessment to different countries. the only suggestion I incredibly have for you is to appreciate what you may in Taiwan once you're nonetheless right here - the food is mind-blowing. with a bit of luck, in time, you have gotten the flexibility to alter and forget the "rudeness."

I lived in Taiwan for a year and was always treated very well -- people do bump in to you a lot; however, it's not rude to them ... it's simply getting around everyday in a highly crowded space. I felt far safer there than I do in cities in the states.

Yes. And no :)

I sense this might be a job related question, but that's just an assumption. A lot of jobs here treat their foreign employees like crap. Many other jobs treat them really well.
