What steps did you take as soon as you arrived? Do you have any pointers? If I save up US dollars, is there a way for me to exchange it for yen?

Well, I'm planning to move from Las Vegas to Japan after collage, and i don't want to be some stupid tourist that thinks that they can live somewhere just for the heck of it (I'm moving for real reasons that are confedential). I know that i have to learn Japanese and some customs. Anything else i might want to know?

Dear friends.. need some advice here.. i've been told by most language schools in Japan that as a Malaysian I can apply for for a temporary tourist visa for up to 3 months to study in Japan.

Yet when i asked an immigration officer at a Japan Embassy, I got a really shocking response to the lines of " Theres no way a Malaysian can get a visa for as long as 3 months." and "Why bother to study Japanese in Japan? Just do it in Singapore!"

I was entirely baffled by this response. Is this right? Can anyone tell me if this is a fair answer? If I have proof of Acceptance by a school and a return ticket, does the Embassy have grounds to reject me based on my nationality?

Has anyone also received this type of treatment?

Any responses kindly appreciated..

I am moving to Tokyo soon and want to buy a bed. Has anyone any suggestions to find something equivalent to Captain Snooze in Tokyo?
Meaning some where I can purchase a good bed with out paying Ginza prices. Thanks.

Okay, if the title is confusing, what I mean is: There are Japanese people who live in the United States and Brazil (and other places). Many of them have never been to Japan. If they go, how are they viewed?

(I am Japanese-American, but I want to know about both Americans and Brazilians, because many Japanese live in Brazil)

Would like to spend 1/2 day in Hakone and leave for Kyoto after lunch, around 1 or 2 pm. Is there a Hikari Shinkansen leaving from Odawara (Hakone) to Kyoto during this time?

I've been doing some research and I've seen many articles and stuff about Kabuki-cho and Roppongi (I believe there are more?) being dangerous places. Are they really that dangerous? And are there signs or something that tell you where these "red-light districts" are so you can avoid it all together? Thanks.

I'm an Australian high school girl. I'm going to Japan (probably around Tokyo) for the start of the next school year and I've heard that teenagers there are very judgmental. I'll be in the first year of senior high school. What do most school girls do at school? How do they act? How do they mutilate their uniform? How will I be treated? Enough questions for you? lol thankyou =)
