i'd like to go to dubai on jan,4th, and stay in Comfort inn hotel, has anyone been there before?what does it look like?what about the services and the location from the city center?should i take taxi to go anywhere or can go to shopping centers onfoot? what are the closest shopping centers?

I'm planning to visit Abu Dhabi in the New Year's holidays. I'm having a Qatar residence. Would I need anything else to get into Abu Dhabi (like a letter of invitation or a visa from a resident there). I've been hearing lots of things which I'm not sure of!! Like I should have been resident in Qatar for the past five months...is that true? Some of my friends say no.
I'd appreciate if somebody out there would know FOR SURE if I'd be requiring anything else other than the Qatar resident to get a visa on arrival at Abu Dhabi airport. By the way, my profession is an Engineer, so that won't be an issue.
