We are residents of UAE and want to visit Musandam, part of Oman but near Ras Al Khaimah. Do we need a Visa to go there? What are the entry formalities?

UAE resident visa holders does not required visa to visit Oman.

you might want to phone up the Oman embassy, but if Im not mistaken residents of the GCC states, ie: Kuwait, SaudiArabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, UAE, etc are allowed to come with just a passport and no need for a visa...

No, UAE Residents don't need a Visa just take you passport with you! :-) enjoy you visit... Jesse

No, you don't need a visa to visit Oman. Most of my friends go for a day trip and come back without a problem.

It is advised that you take your passport thought, just in case you need it for hotel reservations and such, and valid ID's and Licenses.

And enjoy your time there! =)
