I am an American citizen and my passport expired April 2006 of this year. I want to apply for a residence visa for Saudi Arabia and read that I must wait 6 months from when I first get my passport. Since I already had a passport (even though it expired this year) will I still have to wait 6 months? I did qualify for the renewal of my passport so in a sense it was still a good passport, it just needed an updated picture for it.

The Mutawa'een spend their time..beating women with sticks..how can they be religious police..or are they just acting evily and bring Islam to shame?


Is Saudia Arabia really an Islamic country.. or does it twist the Quran to support persecution and degradation of women and minorities...and a hypocritic life style where many rich Suadi Abroad will visit casinos and night clubs...Or is that just a myth??

My husband has the chance to take a position in Saudi.I just wanted some more up to date information.
I know its strict and the culture is very different, I have no problem with having to wear an abiya or what ever the name is of the clothing women have to wear, at least out of the compound.
I am interested in hearing from those who live or have lived there .

I recently have visited saudi arabia, three important cities Mecca, Medinah and Jeddah, I am a muslim but as i saw, the islamic laws in some cases in Saudi arabia differs with the islamic laws in other islamic countries, especially about the women, please explain me about this differences, and i want to know in this condition how is the oppertunity for a saudi girl to marry with a good muslim man in other islamic country that they dont know eachother before? because when a woman has covered herself completely, she will lose many good chances in marriage that may comes true in some conditions...and this is natural.
And, i had really good times in saudi arabia in my visiting, and thanks to God for this and thanks to many of saudi people that had good treating to other muslims that come from other countries.

Agree of disagree, do you think that women should cover their face on public? I personally think they should not cover their face because all this is traditions and has nothing to do with Islam.
