Saudis don't hate Egyptians. However, there is definitely a negative stereotype about Egyptians among some Saudis. It is thought that Egyptians are not particular about telling the truth (female friends from Egypt tell me that it is a cultural thing for Egyptian males--they often tell "white lies" and think nothing of it...not sure how much of a generalization that is though). It is also thought that Egyptians think they are better than all other Arabs (maybe this comes from the time when Egypt really did lead the Arab world in some ways). Friends who work with Egyptians often talk about problems with gossip, slander, and duplicity.

Having said that, I have to add that some of the best people I know are Egyptian, so from my experience, I know it is unfair to say anything negative about "all Egyptians" or even "most Egyptians". There's good and bad people everywhere, right? And even the best people have their idiosyncracies that others could do without, true?

What the real issue is, is that it is not that Saudi Arabians hate Egyptians it is that prejudism is universal. No matter what race you are, where you are born, what the income status is, or even what religion you are there is prejudism all over the world. The only way to break down these barriers of hatred is by educating people about the differences in this world and to accept that not one of us is the same. We may not like something in particular but that does not mean we should hate the individual. Acceptance of our differences is the key to breaking down these walls of prejudism.

You can't generalize, there are many kind, exposed and educated Saudis, and others who are very rough, Hippocratic and think that patriotism means you have to hate everyone else.

In general the stereotype about Egyptians is that although they are cheap labor and go to KSA looking for a better job and salary, they at the same time keep reminding Saudis of how they were part of their fast evolution back in the 60s and 70s despite the current modernized state of the kingdom which Saudis are very proud of, and they should.

So it is a vicious loop really.
