Last week an elderly Palestinian grandmother, the eldest kamikaze in the Gaza Strip, blew herself up in the name of Allah, leaving behind more than 40 grandchildren.
No doubt, other aging Palestinian grandmothers will soon follow suit.
The shocking thing was that in this case there was no reaction, no comment; no feeling of revolt was expressed by the Palestinian side, only adulation.
Modern radical fundamentalists use "qatalu fi sabil Allah" (fight in the way of Allah) and the other doctrines of self-defense to justify the violence they employ to accomplish their objectives. They also try to put into practice the Qur'anic passage: "Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them and take them (captive), and besiege them and prepare for them each ambush." (IX, 5).
