We've been planning with great excitement our tript to Egypt in Nov/Dec. Just when we're ready to book tickets, people have begun asking us if were sure that it was safe now with the war in the middle-east! We're not extremely worried about being targeted as such for hate crimes, but does the war make any part of Egypt potentially unsafe? How about the Sinai peninsula?

Any recommendations for a resort in Hurgada? I prefer all inclusive 4 or 5 star, reasonable price but if anyone has any to recommend that are not all inclusive or that are 3 star please tell me about it.

Any good tips about Hurgada in general?

I always try to be respectful of the culture when I visit a foreign country but am not sure I really could not drink at least water during the heat of the day. I have read that Egyptians are tolerant of tourists during Ramadan and don't expect them to adhere to the fasts but what can I do to still be respectful?

Hi all. My girlfriend and I (26 years old) are looking to go somewhere fairly relaxing on holiday for a week in October - relaxing as I will just have had a major operation on my shoulder, so none of the usual climbing/kayaking - and a cruise down the Nile popped up as a fairly affordable option. We have always wanted to visit the tombs and this seemed like a good opportunity, but will it be boring and only full of old people? I'd like to hear from younger travelers who have done this and whether you have any recommendations. Our budget is about £500 (~US$950) a head. (By the way I have nothing against old people per se, but would rather not be the only under 40s there.)
