We've been planning with great excitement our tript to Egypt in Nov/Dec. Just when we're ready to book tickets, people have begun asking us if were sure that it was safe now with the war in the middle-east! We're not extremely worried about being targeted as such for hate crimes, but does the war make any part of Egypt potentially unsafe? How about the Sinai peninsula?

I'm an American and I was in Egypt last year and we could not have felt safer. The Egyptians are really dear people. Just use common sense and be aware of your surroundings. If any problems develop, consult the tourist police, they are very visible and generally nice with a decent command of English and other languages.

I'm living in Dahab - Sinai. it is pretty safe, lots of tourists.
Egypt is not enemy for Israel now. but not a friend. Egypt dont want problems with Israel as Israel do. it is pretty safe, Egypt is not related any way to these problems. you can see Israeli tourists here right now. I'm Egyptian and I know :)

Well ... nowhere is SAFE nowadays (remember London air crafts) and Egypt is considered safe when compared to surrounding countries as you know

Egypt has a special authority for tourists safety and I think this authority is on alert nowadays ... I'm Egyptian and I see tourist buses well secured with police.

anyway take care as nowhere is very safe as I told you but that doesn't mean that we stay at our homes terrified although that there are others who care for our safety
