I love things to do with ancient Egypt! I wanted to be an Egyptologist, but it is such a specialized field and the schooling for it is so costly, that I decided to give it up. I still collect things about Egypt though, such as replicas of the pyramids, and the ancient ruins, and I'm alsways watching shows/documentaries on ancient Egypt. I just need to go there! My husband doesn't want to though - said the only way I'll get to go is if I go by myself. I think that'll be the next vacation I take!

The majority of Wiccans follow historical deities, including Egyptian deities. Just because ancient Egyptian culture is gone doesn't mean that their gods do not still exist, and some Wiccans (and other various types of pagans) still feel called to their service. In LaVeyan Satanism, Anton LaVey published a list of "infernal names" to be used during ritual. LaVey is an atheist. He does not believe these beings exist, but they represent certain ideas, and he found invoking the names useful in ritual for whatever reason. Many of these "infernal names" were the names of historical deities, generally those dealing with fertility, sexuality, sensuality, death and the underworld.
