I worked in Eygpt (off shore Sinia) for almost 5 years, I made many friends with the local team, we used to swap jokes and play each other up a lot, I wanted to learn some Arabic, they wanted some more English, although they were very good already with English! My question is this:-
'A donkey bit your Father' what is that in Eygptian Arabic, how is pronounced?
Yes I do know what it means and all the implications invollved, I just cant remember the translation???

Since 8 months ago, I have been dating with an Egyptian boy. He always said he wanted to get married with me, that I was his fiancé, and things like that.

My father had a problem last week and he sent dad a support mail. Dad showed me that me, but for my surprise, he wrote to my dad I AM THE ONE WHO CHAT WITH YOUR DAUGHTER. First, I was a surprise for me, but then dad asked me if he was my fiancée, my boyfriend, my friend or what.

Today I was talking with his bestriend, he says that maybe he didn't mean to say it that way, but when I told him, that I was disappointed, he told me not to be sad, because I am a good girl. Then I told him that with those words, I may continue my life without my "boyfriend" and he answered to me, that's life.

I don't know what to think! I have several Egyptian friends, and they say that when an egyptian says "i want to marry you" that is not a joke... it is for real!

Please tell me what you think?

Loving my husband in fun ways and travelling w/ him is all I want to do. I like my personal space and my husband and I are total opposites (he loves being around kids, cooking + cleaning and I don't).I Know of a couple that has been happily married for 30 odd years living across the street from one another in berkeley. Has anyone tried this way of life? For me living w/ ANYONE is not my idea of fun. I prefer to maintain all our activities minus the boring parts of life (i.e., sharing common quarters like bathroom and kitchen space) and continue to dress up when going out as well as being spontaneous in ALL ways (as usual since I hate routine). How is playing house and seeing someone in the morning and evening joyful thing to do for life?Just because I said "I do" didn't mean that I wanted to live w/ the person I love in a situation similar to being in a submarine.he doesn't mind being the homemaker while I work on a project/job to get us all enough of what we need 2 get by.

For example, how much are its ideas accepted by ordinary Egyptians? How does the Egyptian "guy on the street" feel about the Brotherhood? (Notwithstanding that it's banned as a political party.) Any Egyptians out there wanna answer?

he just disappeared....
many of u who come to the Egypt section a lot know what a great person he is... he gives honest, wise advice, and he's been (like a few other Egyptians here) a great big bro to me...i could ALWAYS email him with whatever i had to say to him, no matter how silly or stupid and he always made me laugh...i emailed him a lot, telling him abt a problem that arose and he would help me with what to do asap..i will dearly miss him as he was more than family to me:(he deleted his email address/ YA account w/o warning to me, and i feel abandoned!
guys, any info on him would really be appreciated...

Was curious about the following after having met egyptians both in the states and in egypt--this is the only forum I'm able to ask some of the questions candidly so a pre apology to anyone who is offended by my curiosity.

Do egyptian men who acquired citizenship and married amer. women not leave them 2 marry an egyptian woman in their home country not do that for what reason if it's not for love that they're still involved. Are the egyptian women as experimental in positions w/ their lovers as american women are (i.e., is fellatio widely practiced in egypt? does the koran prohibit/encourage fellatio/cunnilingus @least btwn. a married couple)? Do u think the stereotype of men wanting a "lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets" applicable to egy. men as well? Also, it seems there are many chubby women in egyptian? Is chubbiness appreciated more in egy than the usa? Exercise regimens seemed uncommon in egy 4 both men and womenis it the diet/the possible appreciation ofchub?
