Arabic speaking nation with an Arab, African and generally middle eastern twist. The true identity is covered under layers upon layers of influences. Were are not like the gulf "Arab" countries in habits, though the Egyptian character has been infested by the return of many Egyptians who worked in these countries carrying some thought and habits of these gulf countries. Egypt is Egypt, forget geography or ethnicity... because its a mix. U can't claim the cop ts are the only bearers of the true Egyptian features for many reasons 2 of which are : not all Coptic Christians are the direct descendants of the Pharaohs, consider all the invaders that came to Egypt during that time, the second reason is some of the christian cop ts converted to Islam during the early days. During the Islamic period alot of races passed through Egypt which was part of the Islamic empire if we may call it so... There still remains very small traces of a once large armenian, greek and italian community as well as some Lebanese/Syrian families.

Egyptians area mixture of just about anything you care to mention from all the people in that area of the Mediterranean. Egypt is a microcosm of the whole Mediterranean. For untold thousands of years there has been a mixture of people in Egypt. They range from very black to very white with all the hues you can imagine in between. The original Egyptians are dark as the name Egypt betrays(Greek for the dark people) They are African and still are but the language now is Arabic.

There are a few different ethnic types in Egypt. Although most have Arabic antecedents.
In the north of Egypt the population is light skinned and of a slighter build and medium height. There are some that have lighter colored hair and even blue grey eyes.Particularly around Alexandria. This trait has been there since Pharonic times.
In the south there is a definite Nubian influence that is indicated by darker skinned and a taller more muscled stature.
You will seldom see other than dark eyes and hair.
I would say the Egyptian people are primarily North African.
After so many years or Arab and Turkish domination there is bound to be a strong Arabic influence on the ethnicity of the people.
But at the same time, intermarriage between the original Egyptians and the neighboring Nubian's has been taking place for at least 3.500 yrs.
The people in Pharonic times were very slightly built with the average male around 5ft 6 in.Their hair was usually black and the eyes bark brown. They were not semetic in appearance and had evoloved from the longer skulled hominoid type.

Egypt is a country, therefore that is their nationality. Africa is the continent Egypt is in, so they could be considered African as well. Actually Egypt is officially the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Egyptians speak Arabic, but as for culture/ethnic background it depends on the egyptian you speak to. The majority will tell you they are Egyptians, not Arabs. It all depends.

Geographically, Egypt is a middle-eastern country, that lies in the North of Africa. Culturally, I think Egypt is a mixture of Islamic/christian Mediterranean country.
So despite the geographical location, culture in Egypt has been formed by many external forces, like previous occupations, religions....
People in the south have a darker complexion, because of the heat and the very strong sun....even their accent is close to the neighboring African countries.

Egyptians are Arab, African and Middle Eastern.
They do not have common features as to how they look because they have been affected by a mixture of races throughout history. You will see different skin, eye and hair colours and textures. You may see original Egyptian features mainly and more apparent in Egyptian Copts.
With regard to characteristics, they are kind, friendly, helpful, hot-blooded and emotional.
