If you wan to travel to Cairo by ship from Italy then I guess you will arrive in Alexandria, but where from Italy I really don't know. When you reach Alexandria be sure to visit the Library of Alexandria, El Muntaza (Really nice place) and a lot more. Then if you want to go to Cairo then I would recommend taking a train, or a super jet.

When you reach Cairo, you know what's next, I guess. The Pyramids, Cairo Museum, City Stars, and many more. Also Luxor, Aswan, and Sinai. Going to Egypt from Italy by a ship sounds fun.

Have a nice trip.

The best way is to ask a travel agency. Also let them arrange the stay in Alexandria and Cairo. If you want to see one third of the world's monuments then go to Luxor. There is a cruise between Luxor and Aswan in the Nile. It takes 3 days and is worth it.

Ask several travel agents about everything.
Choose the best one for you.
Do all the needed papers, passport, visa, etc.
And Enjoy the trip.
