will i need to take a new picture at the identification center to make a new one and how much will I pay, how long will it take, i am sure most of you lost it before because you never get robbed in here....

Yes, it happened to me twice before!!
But, it is very easy. Here is what you need to do
visit: www.egypt.gov.eg and select the new national Id section, fill in the information and they will send it to you by courier. No need for a photo to be taken because they already have it on their database and you can pay upon receiving the new ID, the cost is L.E36.
Two things that u need to watch out for;
1- Need to have all the info, your national ID number etc to fill the form, if you miss anything or send the wrong information, you will not get it.
2- You have to be there during delivery, no one can pick it up for you.
I was very surprised when i filled in the application and received it 2 days later, welcome to e-government.
ps: no need to report it in a police station, simply because the new national ID can not be forged, the old ID was hand written on paper and that is why you needed to report

u have to remember if it fell in the street or it is lost in the house , and i agree with Ashu , when u go to the police station , they will tell u what to do

i lost it once but i found it again .
seriously, my advice you should go to the police station & make a report .then they will give you the report # this way you will be in the save side ....
