It has started to snow here in Chicago, and we are to get 1-2 inches. I am wondering if that is enough, if not, what is a good amount of snowfall to go sledding? 6-12 inches, more, less?

Hey, I am debating this topic at school and want to get some perspective about it. Do you think the X Games are Extreme? Extreme Enough? Not Extreme at all? Are you an X Games fan? Why or why not? I'd like to hear what you think. It would help me think about this a lot. Also, if you have any cool sites I could check out, I'd like to get the links. Thanks!

I know there are a few posts about this but...
I've never been able to stay on a skateboard, never been surfing and generally am not so good with one board and two legs.
I was a competitive figure skater for 10 years, so I'm thinking that skiing would be a better choice for me.
I'd really appreciate some recommendations. Snowboarding sounds like tons of fun, but I am curious if I'm going to be frustrated because it will be too hard.

I've only skiied one day in my life and really enjoyed it. I was riding blue slopes after a few hours.

Was wondering if I should get more experience skiing or should I give snowboarding a shot?

I'm going to a place in PA and the weather is starting to warm up so I may not have a second chance to try snowboarding.

I have a theory and I want to see how everyone feels about it. I was always good at rollerblading, and I picked up ice skating and skiing really easily, but I really struggled with skateboarding and snowboarding. Other people find boarding easier than skiing and skating. So my theory is one person will be good at sports where their feet forward (skating and skiing) and another is better when their feet are parallel to each other but almost perpendicular to the direction they are going. What do you think?

I'm not calling all snowboarders rude. And I'm not saying that outside the slopes they would be rude. But my husband and I went skiing for the first time a while back, and we obviously weren't as capably of controlling where we were going as more experienced skiers. The problem I had is that most of the snowboarders were rude. They seemed to be intentionally swooping down very close to us (and fast), almost as if they were ticked that we were trying to enjoy learning a new sport and taking up room on "their slopes."

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone agree? And to the snowboarders, if this is so, why?
