Good types of bait to use for piking are Mackeral, Herring, Sardines and Smelt also man made baits such as boilies and hallibut pellets can be used also. I think the best bait for pike fishing though is lamprey they just seem to go mad for it. A good place to find pike is in the deeper areas of the lake often arouned reeds and weed beds so that is a good area to fish for them. But the best advice i can give you is make sure you have the right equipment for unhooking them ie a pair of forceps or something similar you definately don't want a bite off one of those.

Sorry this is not an answer, but a question - what is piking, please? Is it to do with catching pike?

Edit: Ok, I googled it and I understand now. I see there are lots of pages on piking so maybe what you are looking for will be among them!

Good luck with your catch.
