It can be. People have fallen off and gotten disoriented and drowned. Also people have been too close to the boat and died of Carbon Monoxide poisening. These are rare incidents so I would just use my head and be carful and you will be fine.

Im not sure you are referring to snow tubeing or water tubeing but I have done both. I believe with any sort of action sport you risk being injured. Tubeing.. whether snow or water, is less dangerous then skiing. When water tubeing the biggest mistake people make (and where the bulk of injuries are) is that they don't let go of the tube quick enough causing you to be flung around like a rag doll.. bouncing off the surface of the water (which feels much like the ground when you're at high speeds) until you let go. With snow tubeing the biggest risk you face is hitting a bump and falling off. If you are tubeing on a nice surface.. one designed for tubes such as at a ski resort.. you're more than likely not ever even going to wipe out. Its pretty hard to get hurt on a snow tube unless the track has jumps or whatnot. You also pose a risk of running into trees or other objects if you don't have a propper track to tube on.
Apart from that.. they are both extremely fun and WELL worth the "small" risk you take of being injured. I would say for the most part.. NO .. it's NOT dangerous. :)
Good luck.. and have fun!

Tubing on snow is less dangerous than skiing but still could be a problem depending upon the location. Tubing in water can be quite dangerous. A friend of mine got killed tubing when the driver of the boat ran him into a group of trees.

I'll tell you this much- it's fun! My friends and I go to this snow park where they make real snow and there's tubing. But it's a pretty safe track to go down and they have spare tubes at the bottom so you just crash into them! It isn't really dangerous- I've never been hurt. It does hurt a bit when you go down and crash into the tubes and they all cover you up- hitting you on the head, then someone else comes down and crashes into them and makes them fall on your head AGAIN but seriously, NO NEED FOR A HELMET! Then again though, I'm only a kid and am not sure if that's proper snow tubing so you shouldn't really trust me hehe

Tubing in a river - like this summer on the Salt in PHX, or tubing in the snow? Everything can be dangerous if you are not careful. Do not drink & get in the water - always have someone with you when doing anything that can cause physical harm.

are you going tubing in the water or snow? anything like that can be dangerous if you fall just right, but if you're tubing in the water, you have to make sure you're a good swimmer and you trust the people manning the boat - and make sure you wear a life jacket even if you are a good swimmer - just in case. Have fun!!!

My brother has tubes in his ears. The only thing he ever had to watch out for was getting water in his ears. That, and getting smacked in the head by a watermelon.

Any sport involving rapid downhill movement can be dangerous. I know of a child killed tubing into a barb-wire fence.
Have fun but be careful.
