Swimming & Diving

She asked me to teach her, as I used to be a SCUBA instructor and am therefore comfortable in water etc.

The only drawback is that she was in the army and even their instructors couldnt teach her how to swim, she's quite terrified.

Any tips to make this go a bit smoother?

Hi,

I know that swimming is good excercise to loose weight. Normally, I swim for 50-55 min. and then sit in hot tub for 10-15 min.
My question is : Does going to hot tub after swimming helps to loose weight or not?
Should I continue going to hot tub or just come back after swimming?

okay so I've been swimming for three years now. and I still can't do breastroke right what happens is my right foot won't turn out like its supposed to. think I'd have a good IM if I could just learn to swim breastroke. I will tell you that i did have a Stroke when I was 6 months old. the right foot was effected. do you think that I just can't do it? because of that. my left foot will thugh. I've been working on this for two years now trying to stranghten my ankels and now there pretty strong. I did things like ankel rotations. tracing the A'B'C's with my big toe. My coach is out of ideas. and I'm sick of being beat out my 7 year old's in breastroke simply because I can't kick. my two questions are:

1) do you think the stroke has something to do with the fact that I can't turn the foot out, or do you think its just weakness?

2) do you have any exersices that I can do to work on it?

My son Jacob, 18, is a lifeguard. Part of his job is giving swim lessons to children ages 4 to 7. The children are beginners. Jacob has a group of three and a group of five. The lesson is 50 minutes long. He is having a tough time filling the time with lessons and activities, and his supervisors aren't much help. Jacob was given a curriculum to teach, but the daily lessons don't fill the 50 minutes and the kids get bored (and subsequently mischievous). He is not supposed to let the kids have free time or play games until the last five minutes. He can, however, turn the lessons into games, but his supervisors haven't given him many ideas for games. Also, when Jacob is instructing one student, the others are to hang on to the wall and wait until it's their turn for instruction. Boring! Please help -- what fun things that are instructional (beginners, remember!) can Jacob do with these kids ages 4 to 7? Thanks!

if i run like 6 days a week on my treadmill for 45 min (this is 3 miles) and go swimming a few days in my pool, and eat right will this help slim my stomache and thighs??

after suffering an injury in the water, I dislocated my elbow in 3 places badly, now i am afraid to go in the water? i really want to go back out again. how do i get over my fear? i have seen other surfers get injured and then go back out it was an 8ft wave, now im scared of even baby waves. even after being raised in the water? any advice i dont want the ocean to feel like this to me.

My family & I are going to Mexico in November and I know some of the family will do some snorkeling. However, my mother does not like to put her head under water, but I know she will want to see the fish.

Several years ago my parents went to Hawaii and did some snorkeling and my Mom used a float that had a transparent place for her to put her face so she could see the fish underwater.

Does anyone know what the floats are called and where I would get one for my Mom?

two years ago, they had these sexy swimsuits available where it was a solid color and a contrast outlining.

For example, I'd like to get that sexy type of halter bra-top and hipster-like bikini that's say, white with blue trim for someone, but as I check in all the online stores, I don't see them around anymore. Aren't there still places where I can get these styles that can be any color with different colors of outline trim?
