i have little trouble with it luckily, especially with all the swimming i do, after workouts, i will simply tilt my head to one side and jump a few times on the pool deck to clear the water. sometimes i may have to pat my head on the opposite side a few times. in the rare instances i get some water "stuck" in my ear, i use a dropper and some isopropyl alcohol and just drop a few drops in and then close the flap over my ear hole with my finger and mix it up real good. then let my ear drain. what hopefully happens is that the alcohol will dilute and/or replace the water then eventually evaporate.
if you experience pressure or pain for more than a day, i would make a visit to your doctor.
good luck.

People often get water stuck in their ears after going for a swim or taking a bath, especially in the summer months. While water in your ears can simply be unpleasant, if you don't remove it or it doesn't drain out on its own, then you may have to deal with the inflammation, irritation, or infection of your outer ear and ear canal, which is also known as Swimmer's Ear. Luckily, it's often easy to remove water from your ears with just a few quick tricks. If treating it at home doesn't work and you experience ear pain, then it's important that you see a doctor as soon as possible

Carolyn:
There's a couple of things that you can do to remove water from your ear, but first, I would recommend that you prevent water from entering the ear by wearing ear plugs. I get "Swimmers Ear" regularly. This is primarily because I swim 1&1/2 hours everyday. I wear ear plugs made by Finis. They are "Lane 4" ear plugs. These ear plugs have a flat piece that prevents any water from entering the ear channel. They work great & are relatively inexpensive.
O.K., to answer your question:
1). Ear drops are in actuality just Medicinal Alcohol. I suggest you have someone place a few drops (4-5) into the effected ear. You'll have to place your head down with the ear up. Let the drops move down into your ear. I know this sounds crazy, because you are placing a fluid into an ear with water already in it; but, the alcohol will actually dry out the ear. O.K., when your done you can stand up. It takes a couple of minutes but the alcohol will dry out the ear.
2). If you have ear wax build up, now that's another story. Ear wax remover is simply Hydrogen Peroxide. You can get a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide for less than a tiny bottle of ear wax remover. You place it in the ear the same way as the Medicinal Alcohol. The Hydrogen Peroxide actually dissolves the ear wax. If you have built up ear wax it will take several minutes for the wax to dissolve -- maybe overnight.
3). Lastly, if this is persistent, please see a Doctor. A good M.D. will be able to check your ears and tell you exactly what is wrong. Don't let your hearing diminish. Take care of your ears.
Well, good luck! After your ears are all fixed, Keep Swimming!
Aloha!

Dab some rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and squeeze a small amount into your ear until the water is gone or
use a blowdryer on low a few inches from your ear or use a Cotton Swab. It works all of the time :)
or
tilt your head to the side of that ear until your feel a warm sensation in that ear.

Try OTC Hydrogen Peroxide. Pour some in the ear, let it bubble a minute or two, turn out on a towel. Works for me
everytime.
