I am a pretty Ok swimmer I still can't get over the fact that I am goin to make a complete fool of myself. Cananyone tell me how the first day will go? ... and days after that? thank you!

I agree, you'll do fine. If you're nervous or out of shape, chances are you may feel like vomiting... so get out of the pool and let it out, then get back in and you'll feel a whole lot better. (Don't worry, many people blow chunks on their first day back if they are nervous or out of shape!)

Your first day (in terms of swimming) will be the hardest, with each day after that getting a bit more easy because your body will slowly improve. Each coach/team is different, some start the first day off more relaxed, others turn it into "hell week"... I can't say which one you will face. Making some friends, and trying your best to do what the coach asks will serve you well.

You'll do fine, just try your best!

no one can tell you how the day is going to go, not until it already happened. all you need to do is swim the best to your ability and put away all those nerves because nervers use your energy. I started taking swimming lessons when I was 2, but I didn't join the swim team until I was 9 or 10 because I didn't want to be the person to make the team lose. I was totally wrong swim teams don't work like that it is a team effort, so if you lose a race there are other people that can try and get those points back. I was very nervous for my first swim practice. But now I love swimming and the many friends that I have made there.

When I joined my swim team for the first time, I couldnt even make it to the end of the pool withouth having to stop. I was pathetic. I thought people would laugh at me because I was 10 years old and could only do the doggy paddle. I cried every practice and after every race to my mom. I hated it. Then, I found some really nice friends and older people that always cheered for me and told me I was doing great and improving all the time. The first year my mom cut me some slack and didnt make me go all that much but I did improve a little bit. I could swim the entire length. A bunch of people told me the first year is always soooo hard but stick it out because with almost every swimmer you see a major improvement the start of the second year. Within the first month of my second year I could dive off the block, do a flip turn, and actually compete. I was so happy that I stuck it out.

Start out at a beginner level because that will be a challenge. Swimming is very hard at the beginning. When I take the entire winter off I struggle at the beginning of the summer. After like five practices my body starts adjusting again. Then it gets easier. The first day you will be dying for air, your stomach will hurt because of the stomach muscles working, but mostly your arms will hurt. They will be sore for a few days. Just keep swimming though! It's a great exercise to stay in shape!

I think u should join the swim team again. And yes it does help u run better and keep u in shape. I know u say ur not really good but by the time the end comes around u will be better. The only way u can get better is practicing!!!!! U will make friends almost automatically bc ur spending a lot of time with them. And it's only about a month and a half long. i'm signing up for mine and u should sign up for urs. o.. and u will no the coaches from 2 years ago.. ok well any PLEASE let me know what u decide!!! i hope this helps!!!

The first week is basically just going over the strokes and working on growing relationships in the team. The next 3 or 4 weeks is inermediate training. Training such as diving, flipturns (if nessasary), and making it all the way down the pool. Also you work on improving time and imporving relationships. Weeks before meets are crunch time. You ussaly do the most intense training then. You really focus on relay teams, time improvments, and diving and starts. Last couple of weeks of a season are just relaxing times. You don't really do much after the last meet.

You';re not the only one who's a newbie, remember that! Just pay attention to your coach, make friendly with your teammates and enjoy yourself. Your first day will be hit and miss for everyone so don't weigh too much of the season on the first day. You've already made the team and that's half the battle! Relax and enjoy it ( =

It's alright, swim team is really fun and I am sure that people will be nice to you and cheer you on. Just swim fast, and make sure you improve! The first day will be hard, and so will the first week or two, but soon, it will get easier, and you will make lots of improvement!

Just go ahead and swim, and don't worry. Everybody makes a mistake every once in a while. It should get to the point where your swimming will improve don't worry about it!

hey relax all that they will do on the first day for you is see if you can swim across the pool with out drowning. lol

i am a freshman at DDHS i did bad at the first day but that does not meen you will i was just un prepared. after that i did water polo and now swim club just swim as much as you can and you will get better trust me i know
