I'm with Blondie, just buy one.
[edit] 5ft long and 2ft wide sounds more like a surfboard...
why not just pick one up at a second hand store? you might be thinking "too heavy" but they are surprisingly light.

Mathew, By the sizes you mention it sounds as if you are wanting to buy a surfboard core. Kick boards is usually 2 - 2.5 ft long and about a foot wide.
Anyway you can contact any surfboard manufacturer on the net for surf board core or phone Dow Foam Products in California and ask them for a distributor in your area.
You can then purchase a nice expanded PE core that you can shape with a knife and electric planner.

You would need to find a bulk supplier of Styrofoam board or sheeting. Floral wholesalers usually sell it and so do Styrfoam manfacturers. You may want to Google it in your area.
If you're really serious and looking to spend a lot of money got o your local surfboard shaper and have one made out of fiberglass. Expensive but it would be AWESOME!
