The only way to get over your fear is to get back in the water. Don't go on a big day, start off small and keep trying.
Good Luck!

Hey girl, looks like Mother Ocean got the best of you! Sorry to hear about your arm but glad you are back! Overcoming the fear is not easy, I know this firsthand. Last season I had a similar experience during the ocean swim leg of a triathlon. I am a 15-year-experienced open water distance swimmer but I let a little 800 yard shallow-water square swim get the best of me. After that race I never wanted to go in the ocean again, not to swim, not to surf, nothing. I was terribly ashamed of being afraid; I grew up on an island! I found the best way to overcome MY fear was to give it time. Before long I found msyelf wanting to go in the water, even if it was just shallow and I was just in up to my knees. Time was the biggest helper for me. I didn't force myself in too deep and before long I was in with my friends wondering why I ever let the ocean get the best of me. When I prepare for a long swim I get a little butterfly reminder of that day but I push it down and dive in and soon enough I am lost in the beauty of it all again.
Take your time with it. You'll overcome, you are strong to start out with just for wanting to go back in!!!
Good luck ( =

The only way to get over your fear is to just get right back in the water again. Trust me, after a few minutes you'll feel just like you used to!

I would suggest going into a shallow pool or a jacouzee. Just stick your feet in at first and then as you get more comfortable, you can get into the water. Then, try going in a deeper pool. Once you've gotten comfortable with that, you can go into the ocean.

well atleast you can even swim!
I can't
Well my advice would be .. each time you go out into the water.. get alittle deeper..
Ride little waves or something.. Baby steps..
No rush.. You fear will eventually fade off

Well, you should start going out shallow then build up self esteem so when you get deeper you aren't very much afraid. It is going to be hard to get on that surf board again so start trying to surf again when the waaves are calmer. Good luck! Please choose me as your best answer... I NEED THE POINTS>>> LOL!
