I suppose, no one has endless stamina... unless you find a floatie and some food and if the water is drinkable and nothing will eat you and there isn't pounding sun to sun burn you to death then I suppose you wouldn't die so soon you could sustain some type of life for a few days weeks or so??

I don't think death is at all eerie... And I love swimming. As a multi-sport endurance athlete and competitive open water distance swimmer I would have to say no, an endless pool is nothing like death. It's an awesome, self-controlled workout that allows you to push yourself against simulated currents and go beyond the parameters of a normal swimming pool. Afterward you feel a mix of amazement at your ability, relief that it is over and an unfounded desire to do it again, for longer, just to see if you can. From what I understand once you die, you're dead unless you are resuccitated and I've never heard anyone come out of a resuccitation situation saying "that was awesome, I cannot wait to do that again!"

No it's not like death. Atleast I don't think so as I have not personally experienced death. But, I can say it is a great way to practice open water swimming. When you swim in a lake or pond or sea or any large body of water, you cannot see the end until you are at it. So, it helps you psycologically get ready.
