I am considering climbing Mt. Whitney with some friends. I understand that Spt-Oct is the right season. If anyone has ever done it, can you give advice on do's and don'ts?

Thanks!

I'm a member at an indoor rock climbing centre, and have passed their proficiency test.

I'm applying for uni this year and want something to show for my climbing habit!

How do you get involved in competitions and earn qualifications?

I personally have never tried climbing the mountain, but one of my friends wants to later this month.
She isn't really in shape, and hasn't done a lot of hiking.

So thank you!

Remember, it's Camels Hump in Northern Vermont, US.
Thanks.

Why is it getting so hard now to get 11mm climbing rope? All the newer ropes are getting really skinny, like 10.2mm or 9.5, or even 8.3mm! Maybe we should start calling them "climbing cords"?

I found a great 200' granite slab up in the mountains, and I want to top rope it for sport climbing. How can I do this? Climbing rope is usually limited to 60 meters.

I started climbing indoors a few months ago, and I've only ever done top roping, but I'd really like to try outdoor climbing, and especially sport climbing. One matter of logistics eludes me though - when you're all done with a route, how do you get the top quickdraw back? I mean, you could have someone climb the wall and retrieve all but the last one on their way up, but it seems to me that the only way to get the top one back is to downclimb the whole thing. I'm sure it's something simple, but I just haven't figured it out! How do you get that last one back? Or is there something permanent at the top of the route?
Thanks!

offer their own experiences with this, from initial interest to your first big climb.
Like how difficult was it? What kinds of people did you climb with? etc.. etc ..

I realize there are usually routes up a mountain that can be harder or easier but I only want to include the easiest route up each mountain in Colorado in this determination of difficulty. In my opinion difficulty includes exposer, amount of technical climbing skills needed to climb, and its ranking in the Yosemite Decimal System. It does NOT include total distance and elevation gained. So by using my definition of difficulty what is the hardest 14er in Colorado?
