It never fails, the first game is ALWAYS Toronto vs. anybody. Even when it's played out west (ie. Vancouver) which is RARELY. And when it IS broadcast from out west, they bump the start time from 7:30pm Vancouver time to 4:30 Vancouver time.

I really hate Jagr. So much so i wish he would get hit by a bus, but i have no real reason why. Does anyone else hate a player as much as i hate Jagr, and why?

Don't give me an answer that relates to the immigration problem, you will be denied! Separately, Mexico is very fond of soccer (since forever?), and the NFL has been introducing their sport ever since. I know the other major leagues did this but not the NHL. Can they introduce hocke to Mexico? Will this get the Mexicans to play in a new venue of sports?

All right, all you players, rec and otherwise.

I play a three to four day hockey week, between games and practices. This week I've got a wicked flu and I'm still (so far) making it to games (although I think I'm going to give Thursday's practice a miss).

It seems kind of stupid to drag myself to hockey feverish and hacking, but if I *don't* go, we're usually down to two D on my women's team, and there's a chance they won't even have two full lines of forwards. So I go, sick or not. Last week I played with whiplash.

What about you all? Are you a "be there every game or die" player, or do you figure it's just a game and stay home if you're not up to it?

I know guys in the NHL play with broken bones, new stitches flu, food poisoning, massive hangovers... but they're pulling down the big paychecks.

What about the rest of us... is it worth it?

Me? I'm stubborn. Stupid or not, I'll always play. In a season, I'll miss maybe, at most, one game.

You?

I was recently online looking for a Flyers' jersey. I found that all the women's were PINK. I then went to all the other team sites and all of their "womens'" jerseys and t-shirts are pink. How can I feel like I'm supporting my team wearing a pink shirt? I feel like they are catering to the women who don't care about hockey and are just there to pick up guys or impress their boyfriend.

Can you imagine if they made all men's hockey jerseys black? None of them have the team colors. You'd think it was pretty ridiculous.
This is f@cking HOCKEY. Pink had NO business in it.
Does anyone have any creative solutions for this issue? If not let me know your opinions on the subject.

First, identify what you feel the leagues issues are
Second, identify how you would address each issue
Third, identify how your solution would grow the game

Background: I have been involved in hockey in one way or another since the early 1960s (I played minor league hockey with Phil Esposito in Chicago's system) and was a scout for the Black Hawks for over 30 years. I am still involved in the league. I have seen a lot of people complain about Gary Bettman on this forum, attributing to him problems that he has nothing to do with. Gary is a well paid commissioner who does what the owners tell him, not the other way around. He has a specific mandate (and I'm not telling you what it is) and he has accomplished that mandate, which is why the owners endorsed him last summer.

So, let me hear your answers (cyrenaica can't answer)

I say he starts against Ottawa Tuesday despite Aebi's 47 save performance, really, he wasn't THAT great, the saves he made in 3rd period are the only ones mentioning, and he wouldn't have gotten 52 shots if the Habs had played better defense.

I say Cristo starts, I've had enough with this already, really, HUET is supposed to be our no 1, he was SIGNED to be a number one, Aebi was signed to be a BACKUP.

Besides, Aebi's streak will end soon, it's only a matter of time.

It seems like just because the Sabres are doing well this season that everyone has to put them down and put the city down. Have any of the people who are ragging on the city actually ever been there?

I was born and raised, but have lived all over the country and in three countries in Europe, and I will always think that Buffalo is one of the greatest cities in the world. There is a very rich cultural history, theatre, art, architecture, night life, and business. The city has a small town feel with all of the perks of a bigger city, including a NHL team that is on fire and a NFL team that used to be (maybe someday Bills). I think all of you people that diss my home town would feel differently if you just spent some time there.

So my question is....why do you have to hate the city, why can't you just hate the team?
