Jagr is the absolute best forward playing today...
That said - you are not alone. Alot of people don't like him. I really don't know why. Maybe it's the same reason everyone hates the Flyers? They're the best too.

OK sweetheart, I'm assuming you're talking about raining death and destruction down on Jagr only in a hockey sense. It would be really irrational to work up that kind of hate for someone you don't know personally. How many times have I engaged in that type of Hockey Hatred--let me count the ways: Scott Stevens, Ulf Samuelsson (until he got traded to the Penguins...then I thought Ulffy was the greatest), those rat-throwing morons who called themselves Florida Panther fans, Kenny "the Rat" Linseman, Keith Acton, and so many many more--but yeah, I know exactly what you mean. There are just those players that you'd like to see flattened every time they hit the ice.
P.S. Try asking the same question in the baseball section so I can tell you how I feel about Balco Barry Bonds.

Yikes I see some counseling in your future, to hate someone you've never met enough to wish death on them is a bit over the top---ya think?
Jagr is/was a great player, a known tempermental soul who tends to whine and ***** when the spotlight finds someone else---like Shanny as of late.
I knew someone in Pittsburgh that drove the Pens around at times and he said that Jagr was the nicest most down to earth player he'd ever met, and he drove around players from lots of different teams.
So, double up on the Midol and hate do nothing fossils like Hatcher---but even then......only in the most abstract way.
Geez.

I hate Darcy Tucker. I have a good reason though. He is dirty, a cry baby and plays for the Leafs. He could be the biggest hypocrit in the league as he runs guys all the time and then is all over the officials anytime someone touches him.
Other players past and present I hate are.
Bryan Marchment
Mike Ribiero
Esa Tikannen
Claude Lemieux
Matt Cooke
Anyone in a Leafs jersey - If you ever watch HNIC you would think they were the greatest hockey team on the planet when in fact they haven't won a Cup in 40 years.
Bob Cole (not a player) Incompetent, senile, homer.

Jagr has been simply the best player the past 10 to 15 years and nobody can take that away from him. you might hate him because he is that good.

Not a certain player, but I have the same explanation to certain teams. Such as:
NHL: NY Rangers
NFL: NY Giants
NBA: Trailblazers
MLB: LA Dodgers, well, I do hate a handful of players for no real reason such as Eckstein(STL) and Counsell(ARI)
I know exactly what you mean with your Jagr situation.

Derian Hatcher, Darcy Tucker, Jeromie Roenick, Ed Belfour, Jaromir Jagr, Claude Lemueix (everybody hates him though) and Mike Comrie are my most hated players. Don't really have much reason, I just wouldn't mind seeing them drowning after a plane crash

No.
There's some players I love... try and emulate, heroes of mine, or players I've been fortunate enough to meet and like in a personal "he's a cool dude" kind of way.
I could never muster hatred for anyone in the NHL.
I have nothing but respect - especially having played - for the guys who have the discipline and courage to go that far in the game, to put it on the line, put their bodies through hell and sacrifice so much to get paid, usually a fraction of what other pro athletes are making.
I've met some of the true "goons" of the sport. Guys who have been far more loathed than Jagr, let me tell you.
Every one of them were decent, self-effacing guys. The kind of guys I meet over and over in hockey -- who all are so unlike some of the other pro athletes I've known. None of the ego, none of the entitlement, many of them born and raised in obscure towns no one's heard of and who have never lost their humility.
There are exceptions, sure.
But like I said, nothing but respect and liking for the men who play this sport.
