It seems like just because the Sabres are doing well this season that everyone has to put them down and put the city down. Have any of the people who are ragging on the city actually ever been there?

I was born and raised, but have lived all over the country and in three countries in Europe, and I will always think that Buffalo is one of the greatest cities in the world. There is a very rich cultural history, theatre, art, architecture, night life, and business. The city has a small town feel with all of the perks of a bigger city, including a NHL team that is on fire and a NFL team that used to be (maybe someday Bills). I think all of you people that diss my home town would feel differently if you just spent some time there.

So my question is....why do you have to hate the city, why can't you just hate the team?

Al...all the bars are open until 4am. That's weird to me that you couldn't find one. Next time try Chipewa Ave...that's where all the good ones are.

I think deep down people who say they hate Buffalo do only hate the team because they are in competition with their favorite team.
I don't hate your hometown or the team and I have visited Buffalo. The only thing negative that I can say about the area and not the city is that it can get really cold there in the winter and I hate cold weather. I don't hate the city because it's cold, I don't know enough about it to make an opinion. It was fine when I was there.

There are a lot of bandwagon fans and "puck bunnies" that just think the Sabres are cool because they're winning, but as someone who has been watching the Sabres for most of my life and understands the game, I still don't mind it. More money coming in means that the team can afford to pay their best players to stay put, acquire new talent, and maintain a cleaner and more comfortable space for players and fans in the arena. It keeps ticket prices down because profits can't help but be made when every game is a sellout. The biggest reason I don't mind the bandwagon fans and puck bunnies is because they have children who will likely become lifetime fans and possibly even the next great players of the game. Western New Yorkers have always been very attached to our sports teams through thick and thin, and if a few more of us feel like driving through the Buffalo weather to get to games when there's a likely chance our team will win, then what's so wrong with that?

I don't hate Buffalo, I grew up in Ontario and think Buffalo is a great place. In fact a lot of people in Ontario including myself are huge Bills fans. I'm getting a kick out of the fact that now theres a level playing field in the NHL smaller market teams like the Sabres have a chance to show what they can do. Thumbs up to Buffalo & the Sabres great city, great team.

The problem is that YOUR fans keep talking about how great they are. Keep bragging about something so little(10-0 start DOESN'T put you in the playoffs) and people may lay off a little. Also this oh we will go 82-0 gets really old. Then you have those fans that went on and on about oh if we wouldn't have had injuries we would have won the Cup. IT'S OVER. A NEW SEASON HAS STARTED. People get hurt and that is part of the game but also tired of blaming it on your injuries. You didn't even get IN the cup so no telling if you would have WON it or not.

Why hate Buffalo --- save it for the New Jeresy Devils and New York Islanders!

Buffalo is disliked because of their fast start and the rants of Sabre fans who are convinced 11 games in a LONG season that they have already won the Cup. It is WAY to early.

GO FLYERS!

I don't hate the city I think Buffalo has a certain charm however...Camera got stolen at HSBC arena during a U2 concert last Dec. by one of the security guards at the arena. Left message/complaint no one responded...drove through Buffalo last November returning from a Pittsburgh Penguins game...I felt like i was in a Zombie movie as no one...absolutely no one...not a soul..anywhere to be seen downtown. Very surreal. Drove around with my bud and we could not even find a bar open to get lunch or a drink. Why is that?
Not to mention the assasination of one of your Presidents:
Assassination

Leon Czolgosz shoots President McKinley with a concealed revolver.McKinley was shot twice by anarchist Leon Czolgosz at 4:07 p.m. on September 6, 1901, at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. One bullet was easily found and extracted, but the second bullet had lodged in a difficult-to-find place

I am also born and raised in Buffalo but currently live in Michigan. Even though I live in Mi I still follow the Buffalo sports teams and visit the city at least once a year. I agree with your assessment of the city and the people are the friendiest of any city you care to visit.

Whoaaaaa, there Nellie....... I have also lived all over the world, two years in London, a year in Toronto, New Delhi and Boston, twelve years in Mexico City and about the same in Vancouver, and I don't hate Buffalo, in fact I rather like the Sabres and ALWAYS have ( Do YOU remember when they beat the Soviet Wings 12-6? I do!)

But I do truly hate the Bills, and that won't change by "spending some time there": stupid colors, stupid logo, stupid name, FOUR times in a row to the SB and you blew it EVERY TIME! you had a chance to go back to the SB with Doug Flutie and you blew it! Big Time! You screwed HIM and YERSELVES!

I DON'T hate the city, but as long as you tolerate the ownership of the Bills to continue as they have, you will always be a joke in the world of sports. There are NO FANS anywhere who have to tolerate the kind of abuse YOU have suffered in Buffalo. If you simply stop going to the games they will HAVE TO change the tune they play, its that simple........

I love Buffalo can't get out of here on 3 several attempts to leave I always find myself back in "the Nickle" I love it we have the best food the best culture and the best people not to mention the best teams!!!! win lose or draw we still have pro sports unlike most of the cities in America.

As per an assassination in our city yes we did have one but also don't forget Dallas who also shares that dishonor.

Buffalonian who is still TALKING PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!
