see there were so many in the past like KP Bhaskar Pillai, S Sharath, S Sriram who despite averaging in the 60's could not find a spot in the team. But Kaif with a first class average of just 37 finds himself ever-present in the ODI team and also playing test cricket. All Indian cricket needs is neutral selectors. Someone like that sort of an average will never find a place in the Australian test team or even England test team. See for instance Brad Hodge, who could have easily played 100 tests for any other test playing nation is still finding himself out of the Australian team. To me Kaif is the luckiest cricketer in the world. repeated failures dont stop the lunatic selectors to keep selecting him

I would say no. the glaring reasons are take the cases of Grame Hick, Ronnie Irani , Mark Ramprakash, and so many. The score 100 100's and perform very poorly when it comes to international cricket. Take the case of Hamish Marshall a middle order bat from Newzeland he was struggling last season averaging less than 15, went to county , scored heaps of runs there and came back to the ICC champions trophy to make single digit scores again. So no talent or real competition i see in the English county. whereas India's Duleep trophy tournament can match even the Australian Domestic cricket. Your thoughts please

I had always believed that players who make a 50 against australia is way ahead of someone who scores a double hundred against say Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. Badani i feel is one of the guys who can put a brave front against the best of attacks. He played really well to score a 100 against Australia. And also Laxman has made ODI hundreds against Australia in Australia. And we know how Yuvraj opened his account against Australia in Kenya with a 80+. Badani had always done well in the Ranji finals scored a big hundred some 3 years back which Sachin hailed as one of the best knocks. He is a very good fielder and i feel he should be given another chance in place of pretenders like Raina , Kaif and to some extent Mongia.

I have selected the the team, which i feel is the best, a mixture of class, form and merit. Assuming Yuvraj will not be fit for the series

Sehwag
Jaffer
Dravid
Sachin
Laxman
Ganguly
Dhoni
Sreesanth
L Balaji
V YoMahesh
Anil Kumble
Harbajan Singh
VRV Singh/Agarkar based on fitness
S Badrinath
Dinesh Karthik

Rohit Sharma and Gautham Gambhir should come close to the selection.
