I think that would go to Dhruv Pandove. Clearly, the unluckiest due to the circumstances he never got to play internation cricket.

Dhruv was spoken of in the same breath as Sachin Tendulkar as a child prodigy. Tales about his batting abilities are folklore. There were many who though he would have been at least as good - if not better than Sachin.

He played his first first class match at the age of 13 and scored 94 on debut. Next year, at the age of 14, he scored first first class hundred - breaking Sachin's record for being the youngest Indian to make a first-class century.

But then why didn't he go on to play for India?

It was on January 31, 1992, that 17 year old Dhruv Pandove met with a fatal road accident while going home to Patiala near the Kingfisher tourist complex in Ambala. The young Dhruv was returning home after playing for North Zone against South Zone in a Deodhar Trophy match at Sambalpur in Orissa.

Unlucky.

The Patiala stadium is names after him.
