Here's my take:
1. Vince Carter: No 6-6 guy has ever jumped higher or been more fearless above the rim. 360's were a walk in the park. Jumping over the 7-2 Frenchman will never be repeated. Carter is the best dunker ever - by a long shot.
2. Dominique Wilkins: I know I'll get some flak for putting him over Jordan. Wilkins was a one-diminensial offensive force, but boy could he get up and rattle the rim. He always delivered a good performance in Dunk Contests too.
3. Michael Jordan: Early in his career, Jordan could seemingly take off from anywhere and throw down on bigger men. Also, more than anyone else, his huge hands allowed him to wave the ball all over the place with one hand, which added to his dunking flair.
4. Dr. Julius Erving: The Godfather of the high-flying perimeter player. Erving was long and smooth and slithered to the hoop with a grace never replicated.
5. Kobe Bryant: The obvious heir to Dr. J. Kobe has the same fluidity. Less power, more ease.
